Emergency Contraception

Emergency Contraception

Worried about an unplanned pregnancy? We can help.

Emergency contraception (the morning after pill) can help prevent pregnancy if you’ve had unprotected sex — for whatever reason. MFHS can help you access EC regardless of your ability to pay, and we accept a variety of insurance plans.

Our staff are here to answer your questions and help you choose the right emergency contraception for you and develop a plan for your reproductive health.

MFHS offers 2 types of emergency contraception, and our healthcare providers will help you find the right method for you, since these methods can require a prescription.

  • Plan B® (levonorgestrel) is available in most pharmacies without a prescription. It is effective up to three days after unprotected sex and is almost 90% effective for women who weight up to 165 lbs.
  • Ella® (ulipristal acetate) is another very effective type of morning-after pill and remains as effective in people weighing up to 195 lb. (88.4 kg). This pill requires a prescription.

MFHS offers confidential and comprehensive reproductive health services across our community, and no one is ever turned away based on their ability to pay. Call us today at 570-595-4496 to learn more and make an appointment. Walk-in appointments are also available at our Circle of Care Scranton location.

MFHS offers reproductive healthcare services throughout NEPA.

After you get Plan B, let MFHS help you with your Plan A!

MFHS offers a wide range of confidential reproductive health services that are provided regardless of age, income or insurance coverage. Depending on your income, care is provided either free or for an affordable sliding fee.

  • Birth control
  • Pregnancy tests
