The simulation was designed to give us a better understanding of the day-to-day challenges and stresses many people face just to survive, including those we serve through MFHS programs. With one out of three children in the Wyoming Valley living in Poverty, the United Way hoped the exercise would be “eye-opening, as well as heart-opening.”
Our staff were deeply moved to see the kinds of challenges people living in poverty face up close, and are taking what they learned back to our teams so that we can improve our services.
