At the end of last year a new teen center opened in downtown Scranton. The NEPA Youth Shelter’s Teen Drop-In Center is located on the second floor of the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Human Services Building. While the center has only been open for a few months, it has already been visited by dozens of teens.
The center serves as a safe place for high school students to go after school, providing them with a positive environment in which they can do homework, socialize, and rest.
The Drop-In Center also houses part of the SafeTeens initiative called SafeSpace teen health resource center. On Wednesday afternoons a health educator is at the center to provide reliable information and answer questions the teens may have regarding their health.
